Well...........I took it off.....................replaced it.. Was it installed the right way? I have no idea. I pressure washed the MACHIN
, then went out with the guyd for some pints.............just got home! Seems to run fine. If it was a directional type of belt, I would asume it would specify that........Id doesn't, so, I think its O.K

I never heard anyone say to have the words facing in or out, and never saw it in the instructions either. I have the words facing out just because it looks better, in a weird perfectionist kind of way. I don't think it's going to unravel if it's the other way, but I'll never find out. If there aren't any directional arrows I don't know what difference it makes.

Maybe you just solved the mystery! "Just because it looks better"[img][/img]</end quote></div>
Seriously, it just looks "right" that way.

Well just to let you guys know .......I did alot of snowmobiling over the years and this is the rule there also.
When you install the belt with the writing (words) facing out (so it can be read) this allows the belt to be put back on the same way if it ever needs to be removed (service) and put back on.
As the belt seats itself into the clutches over time ...The sides of the belt need to be put back on in the same way (position) or this will cause premature failure over time and the belt will not see it's full life span.
So they say this as a rule (not in stone) so anybody can put the belt on even if they did not remove it!!
....Hope that helps a little bit.....
If you ever watch Sno-Trax T.V. they will tell you this in there Trail Teck section.........(Shop talk)
..........Caper..........

I imagine the inner and outer pully would each wear the belt a little differently. If you took it off and put it back on the same way, it fits, and if you don't it would have to wear in again until it fits. that could take some life off of it. So why don't they just put a directional arrow on it like they do with tires, so everyone can look at it and know how it goes. Unwritten rules aren't much good because not everyone knows them.
