I'm not surprised that they mentioned that. Quite typical of them to change the engine and keep the clutching the same. It was always poor with the original SP500 and I'm sure that the power curve of the 500HO is different, with no clutching changes. That's true Polaris for you. Change the motor and that's it. Did anyone ever see a comparison of a drag race with a 500SP and 500HO SP that was a true and honest race?

I was told it also has lighter clutch weights like the Scambler. Not sure what that would do but my guess is the rpm of the motor will build up alot faster.

Geez Jack, are you having a bad day? It’s not like you to criticize on “assumption.” Although I realize your frustration comes from spending more time trying to “fix” Polaris clutches than just about anyone on the planet.

Without the proper diagnostic equipment I can only say that the clutches in our HOs “feel” different. They seem to engage at a higher rpm and the engine seems to rev higher at a comparable speed to the non-HO. A very unscientific analysis I know, but when you spend as much time in the saddle as we do “feel” counts for something.

Your new business must still be doing very well, you don’t come around much anymore.
