Default Does your sportsman do this ?

Engine off.
On a stand.
If I turn the rear wheels by hand the fronts will turn too, right away.

Does your sportsman do the same thing?

I'm trying to diagnose a problem.

It will do it if it's still locked in four wheel drive. That's the way my 03 700 was anyway. I don't think it's supposed to still be in four wheel drive with the engine off.

The switch is just in 2wd. The quad was new last week. I'm trying to diagnose why the quad pulls to the right.

Obviously there is a problem. Have the dealer figure it out

The front end works off of an electromagnet. When you lock it in the magnet turns on and pulls some needle bearings towards the axle side of the chunk locking in the four wheel drive. Sometimes when you take it out of four wheel drive the bearings will stick and keep one or both axles locked in. If you tried putting the quad in reverse and backing up a little and it didn't unlock then take it back to the dealer. There is a basket that holds the bearings that is made of plastic, or the ones in the 03s were anyway, that can get damaged and cause it to stay stuck in four wheel drive. I had to rebuild the front end in my 03 700 because of that. Brand new though, I'd take it back to the dealer for sure.

it would be pretty easy to tell w/ an 800 if it was stuck in awd just by spinning the wheels and in 2x4 it will spin just the back easily.

stendori,
Are you saying that when yours is on the stand the fronts won't turn if you turn the back ones?

Turn it on and run it in both AWD and 2wd on the stand, the fronts may spin in 2wd, but can you stop them with light presure, in AWD you can not.

Or at least that has been my experience with most Gen 4s that I have worked on.

If you spin the rear wheels the fronts spin, if you spin a front no others turn. That is running or not, in neutral.
