Default Question for do it yourself

I'm looking at doing my own maintenance and changing all of my fluids ect.. on my 2007 Sportsman X2 EFI I would like to know if a ATV lift is a good idea and what kind is the best one to buy. Where can I get a Polairs manual? What type of tools will I need?

I would love to have a lift, just cannot afford it right now. I got my manual from the dealer, the factory manual seems to be the way to go. As far as tools, just start with a good collection of sockets and box end wrenches, and screwdrivers and then just build your inventory from there as you need to.

Welcome to the Connection! Which X2 did you get?

Definitely get a lift if you can swing it. Using this lift, you can raise your quad up so that when you are sitting on your shop floor, or your driveway, the front and rear gearcases will be right at almost eye-level. very easy to to change the fluids in them that way. You will still have to get under the belly of the quad to get to the drain plug, but if you position the lift correctly, you can get good access to drain plug. The lift makes cv-boot replacement much easier too. It's a must have for the do-it-yourselfer. Check northern tool, they usually have some good deals on these jacks. Expect to pay around $75 . Hope this helps...

instead of a lift, wouldnt it be OK to have 2 parallel ramps and ride the atv up and put the parking brake on and get under it? like sturdy ramps, not just pieces of 2X4.

Default Question for do it yourself

Heres my REDNECK setup.

I hitch my 6-1/2' x 14' trailer then drive it up and then ADD those tire RAMPS. Its like having a lift and you
can reach anything in the front etc. real good for cleaning up under the QUAD.

Cheers,

R'

Back when I had a iSportsman with a winch I would winch it up a tree branch to service the under side.
I recomend a go lift well worth the $100 or so.You can get them cheaper at Harbor Freight
