pull your carb and reed cage and see if the piston broke(popular on 400 2 strokes)
Remove the recoil again and look for little pieces of magnet throughout the flywheel/stator area. Could have had a flywheel come apart too.

The 350's and 400 two stroke motors had a tendency on occasion to break the piston skirts. I could send you a pic if you want, got a 400 motor torn down with exactly that prob. I doubt the plug will be you problem. Plugs don't cause motors to screech and lock up. Excess pieces of broken piston skirt do though!
Remove the carb and reed cage, see if your piston is all there. If it's broke, you will know it. I've seen skirts break and allow motors to turn over fine, and i've also seen them lock them up tighter than fort knox. Check your counterbalance oil when you pull the carb off too. Hopefully it isn't full of water.
