Let us know when you try the secondary. I've heard really good things about EPI. My dealer said they can install anything EPI makes for me, since I don't want to buy a clutch puller for one job. I thought about making some changes to my other Sportsman for better holeshots, but didn't want to put any money into it.

EPI springs are good if you know what you want but I dont like their complete kits.Dalton or HPD are the best kits if you want generic performance.Me I do my own clutching for what I want out of my machines.

To get the real input you really need a tach. You can get a TinyTach for around $30 with an hr meter off Ebay and it is really money well spent.Other wise all you have is seat of the pants fell and you CAN over tach a 500 and cause big damage when you try to clutch it.

a clutch puller is only 30 doll hairs, way cheaper than paying for the posted shop rate, we charge 89 doll hairs an hour. i work here and would be very upset to pay somebody that much to do a job an 8 year old could do.

I've pulled clutches and replaced them before when I had access to the right tools 25-30 years ago, so I know it's not too hard to do. I checked the price on some clutch pullers and it was about $60 total for both of them. That's about what I would have paid for labor 11 years ago when I was thinking about having the dealer do it. That was before eBay and you had to get stuff out of paper catalogs or at a store. The good old days? Yeah, right.
When my quad was still under warranty the dealer said their work would be covered, and wouldn't void the warranty. I'm not so sure about my work. But now that labor has gone way up and the price of tools came way down, it's cheaper to do it yourself. Back then it would have been about the same price.
