I have a Glalade with the Glacier 2 system with the 60" Razor plow. It does a great job. I put the markers on it so I could see the "edges" without standing up.
Uses te polaris winch for raising and lowering the plow. Got an extra strong set of springs for the blade, because besides driveway I plow the walkway between my house and the Barn. Sort of field type work, kept tipping the breakover springs.

When i got the machine, they had put a 48 blade on it, the trouble with that small blade, the snow would build on the sides and the tires rode up on that. Not very effective, the path kept getting smaller and smaller.

 

I was thinking of using it to spread some tri-pack on my drive way when it gets delivered. I will order it later this summer.
As I said, I think it is a Moose plow but I don't know how wide it is. If it is a well built plow, I am assuming I can push dirt with it?

 

If it's a skinny plow and not a wide one it should work okay for dirt.

 

Atv plows do not work very well for dirt. They are spring loaded so that the blade will tip when there is too much pressure on the bottom.

It's good to know that they don't work like all the manufacturers claim they do.

 

I have used 3 different ones to try to smooth out my drive and they all did the same thing. When they would hit a high spot they tilt forward. I think that this is a "saftey" built into them to protect the frame and to keep from you going over the bars if you hit something solid.

They will do some light dirt moving if you go easy & don't take a big bite like if you get a load hauled in & chip away at it.

 

[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-cool.gif[/img] I 've had a Cycle Country "60 plow (with my winch to raise it) since my SP was nearly new. It's a blast as long as you can stay dry and warm. I also have chains i've used a couple of winters, but the wife bitched because they tore up the grass too much and they really gouge up asphalt too. Like they said if you really need chains that bad, either you have bald tires or you need bigger equipment to handle the job. Also, if you are pushing snow to fast and hit the edge of uneven concrete slabs, you WILL feel it!!!!!

 

Can't you put more tension on the trip springs so it will plow dirt?

If you want to plow your sidewalk, measure it before you buy a plow. My sidewalk is 5 feet wide but my friends across the street only have a 4 foot sidewalk. A 50-52-54 inch blade doesn't work on a 48" sidewalk if you have side-shields. If you don't have them you can angle the blade and it fits. I had two side-shields on my old plow to keep the snow from rolling off the blade and It took a lot less time to plow my driveway. Now, without them, I have to make more passes to get all the snow on the sides. I don't think anyone mentioned it, but a 6" rubber flap on top of the blade keeps the snow from blowing up into your face.
