Has any heard of or have anything done internal ie... bigger bore, higher comp piston, stroking ect...

I know the compression is high (11 to 1) and the cam is fairly big so there may be nothing available.

Also I`ve heard the lower ends don`t hold up well after internal mods, true or not.

Just curious!!!

Not to be off subject but FTR is supposed to be working on two new transmissions... claim to add 18h.p. Is the 500 transmission the same as the 400?

I can`t see why they wouldn`t. It costs more to inventory 2 different transmissions. Factories won`t do that these days. Anyway.

I think your mistaken or misinformed transmissions don`t make any hp they rob it. Maybe it free`s up some hp to the rear wheels? It`s possible but I don`t think the stock trans robs 18 hp maybe 18%. 18 hp that would be more than 50% power loss through the trans if the engine hp is 32 which I think it is.

It does sound good though, free up the available hp rather than try to make more.

Aeen makes a cam with a longer duration and Wiseco makes a higher compresion piston. The stock compression is 10.2 and the Wiseco is 11.5. HPD makes an airbox mod and carb kit and pipe for the bikes also.

EasterEgg...My english aint what it used to be. What I meant to say was there new transmissions (one without reverse, the other with) are supposed to liberate 18hp that it soaks up. This is strait fromt the guy at FTR...and he did say horse-power! Sounds rather high to me...but then again.

18HP from a transmission change? Not gonna happen.

425expedition covered most of the available options. I just sent the flywheel off of my 500 to Rick Ritter to be lightened, so there's another option. I didn't ask, but I would think Ritter, HPD or AAEN could do porting on the 500.
