Help on Hawkeye electrical
#1
I am hoping that someone can please assist me here. I just added a Licenses plate light and horn to my 2x4 ,06 Hawkeye, everything was fine until I went back to clean up the wiring at the license plate light and now I have no electric power on my consol, the battery shows 12v. I thought I remember someone stating that there is a fuse somewhere.
Thank you for any assistance.

there was a thread earlier about someone was shorting out and blowin the fuses on a hawkeye cuz there are 2 auxilary wires + and - hanging down underneath the dash and they touched the steering shaft and shorted out.

I may be wrong, but I know of NO vehicle with an electrical system that doesn't have some kind of fuse/breaker system to protect those electrical curcuits, if it didn't fire would be a real concern!
The Hawkeye actually has three-15a mini blade auto type fuses located in a fuse holder under the front cab near the right hand front strut tower
If the bike is starting /running I would guess it is the accessory fuse marked "A" on the holder
If you have no power at all, it would be the main fuse marked "F" on the holder
It also has a fusible link in the main battery cable at the starter terminal

I was just going by what the "experts" in other threads have been saying, no fuses just a fusible link on the battery cable. It seems like there would HAVE to at least be auto-reset breakers, if not fuses. There's a lot of misinformation on the forum. Thanks jokout for straightening out this mistake.

accoding to the diagram there is 1 15 amp fuse and looks like 1 fuseable link as well. most of the older bikes dont have any fuses to speak of, and all of the efi models have fuses of some sort. you may have overloaded the circuit by adding the extra light set up. just a thought.
