2007 Polaris Ranger
I have a 2007 Polaris Ranger XP with a 6" Gorilla Lift, Gorilla axles all the way around, and 29.5" Outlaw tires. Heres my problem. When I get into some deep mud or water holes and the 4 wheeler is in AWD the front wheels dont turn. Its like its in 2wd. The 4 wheeler starts out in awd with all 4 tires turning but as it starts losing traction the front wheels stop digging and as we all know you are not going very far in 2wd. I have to shift back and fourth from low to high to reverse and toggle the awd switch to get the front tires to turn and this doesnt work all the time. It doesnt do it all the time but it does it enough to be a pain in the ***. the Polaris owners manual says " When the AWD switch is on, the front wheels will automatically engage anytime the rear wheels lose traction. When the rear wheels regain traction the front wheels will automatically disengage". Am I missing something? My brother has the same Polaris and he never has that problem in the same conditions. Someone please help.

I dont understand how it works fine in AWD one minute and the next minute Im being pulled out of some mud hole because I lost 4wd. Im guessing its electrical. This is just one of the many problems Im having out of this 4 wheeler. Im starting to think these side by sides arent made for this kind of abuse.

After seeing a couple of videos like these, I wonder if Gorilla Axle is made for that kind of abuse. I still think it's somethig electrical like a loose wire.

It may be as simple as the electrical connection at the front gearbox is getting wet and losing connection de-energizing the coil and disengaging the AWD...try a little dielectric grease on these fittings and check the wiring that had to be added when the mods where installed. If a crimp connecter was used to extend the wiring these are notorious for corroding and causing a short when they get wet repeatedly
