Shank, all laws and regulations aside, how about the new Sportsman 400 HO?

They are an awesome machine.

Keep in mind though, that the Sportsman is not a sportquad. If thats the kind of riding your expecting to do with it, then you'll be disappointed. Its also not a jumping machine.</end quote></div>

no way i hate racing. alot of people think kids like me would like that. NO I hate that. I want to be able to offroad. Yes a 400 is alot easier for me to handle. I dont go very fast. Only in the field with neighbors 90.

What are your parents thoughts on this? IMO it is way to big for you. Why do you have to have AWD? Some of us over thirty folk have been riding for 20+ yrs and most have gone without AWD. Get something that you can ride safely under all circumstances. Rule of thumb for me growing up and for my kids is if you can lift the back end up to get yourself unstuck you are big enough to ride it. The 400ho is still 600lbs. My oldest is 11 and 5'-2" and there is no way I would let him ride it through stuff that may be rutted up causing it to turn over. Start with something in the 250-300 range and light, using these bikes will make you a better rider in the long run, learning how to get out of the mud instead of relying on the AWD system. That is how us 80's kids learned to ride, and we turned out alright!

I believe in everything I have written except for maybe the last sentance.

There are many fators besides just age...imo the size and strength is way more important than the age, also maturity and how responsible the rider is. An immature 18 yr old can be a lot more dangerous on an atv than a more mature 12 yr old. At least that was part of my argument about 10 years ago when I got my 500 when I was around that age lol
If you want to prove that you can handle it you need to get out and try them out more. You may find out that its not what you are looking for or you might prove that you are ready for it.
If you can try out other wheelers too, I had a friend with a trailblazer 250 and we took that everywhere and when we got it stuck it was easy to lift up and pull out of the mud but get my sportsman stuck and your in trouble lol

Dang Baldman! Did you fly over a fence and land on a pile of pitbulls?

LMAO Jumbo, I wish! That is what happens when not prepared, afraid of heights and making 3-4 mistakes in a matter of 2 seconds or less.

I have a Rott and a Pit and would have rather them tear me up instead of my 800.
