Hello,

I adjusted my scramblers carb, bc it was running poorly. Know it won't move barely run when i have it going, when u hit throttle it almost dies. so i put it on half throttle and it ran alot better not 100% though.

I made mix in carb more fuel, after that it ran so so for about a week. so do i need to re jet it with a bigger jet? if so can i do it? How hard is it? What is the cost? it has factory jet as far as i know. it is a 99 400 4x4

Okay before your engine siezes rejet!!!
What ya'll need to do is take the carb bottom off you know where the gas sits. You'll see a hex shape gold thing with a hole in the middle and a line indented across the top, thats your main jet.

Stock for a '99 polaris 400 is a 230 main jet its rated for temps. of 40 to 80 degrees, if your running below 40 degrees rejet.

Go with a 250 main jet it's rated for temps of 40 to 0 degrees, this should'nt cost you more than $3 to 5 bucks at your local dealer.

After you get that in say good by to hesitation.

Daddy is right! Check the following things:

1 - Clean / Replace your Air Filter
(once your filter is off, is the carb intake clean? If not, clean)

2 - Your air mixture screw. Turn this in all the way, then turn out 1 1/4 turns.

3 - Main jet, did it run right the last time? Is there now a temp change, like from 80degrees to 20degrees? If so, then you better rejet or don't run it until spring or you'll be rebuilding the top end.

Note: If you limited you throttle cable to half throttle and ran it that way. Then you really need someone that has done rejetting before to help you or you'll be w/o a ride. Get some help with this.

Good Luck

The idle screw is on the side if the carb., Its that screw with the spring on it.

Turn clockwise to increase idle, turn counterclockwise to idle down.

GOOD LUCK!!!

Is the top of the carb tight? is there an air leak. How about around the boot that goes over the throat of the carb. Did u put greese there so it will seal better is that clamp tight? Also is you throtel Cable adjusted correctly?

Grease can eat at the rubber, use VASELINE.

It works the same as grease, but won't eat at the rubber.
