Stealth Roll Over

Well my dad took my Sportsman for a ride yestarday and he took my dog with him. My wife and I were sitting on the porch BSing and we see the dog running back through the yard. I knew it wasnt right. So I jump on her bike and go looking for him. I found him sitting down on a dirt hump in the middle of a gas well road and see some blood on the back of his shirt as I pulled up he jumps up looking totally bummed. To make a long story short he was trying to get on a gas line and they graded it pretty steep to the road and it's off camber, a place I make the wife get off when I'm going up it. He said he was almost to the top and it started to go over sideways, he told the dog to jump and he jumped too, just not far enough. It came down on top of him upside down. When the dust settled his leg felt pinned but he pulled on it and it came right out, thank god we have that box on the back for the dog cause that kept it high enough that the bike didnt crush him. He was looking around for the dog and couldnt find her thought maybe she was under the bike so he crawled around to make sure she wasnt then started home. He didnt break anything just some scrapes and lots of bruises, and some really hurt pride.(thats what he said) I've been calling the dog Lassie ever since but I dont think she likes it, she just gives me this shi&ty look.
As for the quad it didnt break anything, just bent the handlebars, and leaked oil everywhere the air box was halfway full. I added oil, cleaned the filter and prefilter, and checked the coolant, transmission, ADC res., front tranny, brake fluid. Is there anything else to check our watch for being it was upside down for over 15 minutes. Seems to be running fine. My right side inner cv boot looks like it was pushed in I'm guessing from when the tire hit the ground do you think the axle could do any damage pushing into the tranny with that much force?

Wow, glad he didn't get severly injured or killed.
As far as the CV boot, in order for the axle to get pushed in to do any damage, other things would have to be bent. Like the A-arms or strut, strut tower, etc.

Thanks Sheep, it could have been really bad. He's just a lil guy too about 5'6" 130. If it would have pinned him he'd have been stuck til I found him.
Good thinkin Luda I never thought of that. Arent our batt. sealed though? I'll check it anyway.

PTL, everything is okay all and all. If I may ask, was he wearing an helmet? If your
Dad is old school like mine, then I can imagine his PRIDE being the greatest
bruise. Glad to hear your Dad, dog and Quad are doing good!

Sorry to say R he didnt have one on and thats the first thing I said to him. I told em from now on he better wear it and he said next time will be a long time from now. He only rides to his deer hunting spots and to watch the sunset over the river once in a blue moon maybe a half dozen times a year, so I think he'll be done for a while.
Jumbo, thats exactly what I was saying all night. I'll tell you another story too. About 5 years ago my parents dog and ours took off in the morning. That night my moms dog came back at around midnight and they usually come back together so I was worried. I looked around for about an hour to no avail, and we kept asking the dog if mine fell in a well. The next day she came home extremely tired and soaked. My mom works at the local golf course and two very old guys came in and told her a story. They were getting ready to tee off and heard a dog crying in the woods. They went looking around and found her down inside an old well. They put there two belts together and were able to lasso her and pull her out of the hole, then she ran off before they could even check her out. Her claws on all of her paws were ground down into the blood line and her pads were rubbed raw. Thank goodness I take her swimming a lot cause she had to tread water all night long.
We complained to the golf course and they since capped all the old wells around their property.
