Default It funny to listen

As I wrap up my ATV buying decision (2-up models), I find it really funny to listen to people talk about their atv (not you all, You all have been a great help), but people in general. I stopped by my local dealer where I have my Grizzly serviced for years. I was picking up a set of rear foot pegs. I was asking about the Polaris bikes and explained how I really like them and was getting one, You would have thought I was talking about their in-laws or someone they really did not like. They could not believe I was crossing over the line and going with an American made ATV. Now take in mind this is a place that sells new/used atv for years, great mechanics, great owner who trys to help you with any problem you might have. They all are so afraid of the older Polaris. You know the story (My brother/friend had a 2005 or 2004 or 2003 or whatever older year Polaris and it was junk). I did some heavy research and I actually found more bad reviews about the other ATV makes than the Polaris. You get good and bad in whatever you are buying. I thought is was funny how poeple have such strong feelings for there brand of ATV. By this weekend I'll have 2 to brag about. A 2003 Grizzly that I love and has been a great bike and a new x2 that I will enjoy as much as the grizzly. Thanks for you time.

Even more amusing is if you were to go into the same dealer with the intent of only buying a used model. Then all of a sudden the other brand isn't quite as bad.

I think there ia a lot of good about any of the major brands out there. I chose my X2 because it is the best all around ATV for my needs.

Don't think it matters if it's an atv, bike or a car. The dealer you're at isn't gonna try and point out the highlights of its competitor.

A salesman that says another brand is trash, has probably lost a sale from me right there. Now, if they say brand x is good, but here's why mine is better has got a lot better chance at a sale. But then that also requires them have a wide product knowledge.

I know when I was looking for the new truck, a couple of places I went to I had more product knowledge than the people working there.

My 500 has been trouble free for two years now.

And my 800 has been great, just a bad front input shaft seal that I replaced myself.

Other than that, the two Sportsman I have are great!

And the Predator 50 and Sawtooth that my kids have haven't had any problems.

Just take care of it, keep things lubed, keep fluids and air filter clean, don't led mud accumulate and dry up on it, don't beat it too bad, and it will treat you well.

It's that way with anything. I've seen a lot of people just abuse their stuff (ATV). They must have a lot of money.

MULTI LINE dealers will ALWAYS push their cash cows first! Second or third line products usually suffer from lack of dealer interest in service and accessories! I have a lot of service from ONE such dealer! Sells at rock bottom prices, but service dept sucks (as have been told by customers when brought to me for service!) On atv's we are Polaris and only Polaris! Yes multi line offers choices, but how can you talk bad about Kawas, suzukis,Hondas, yamahas,Polaris WHEN you sell all of them and are SUPPOSED to service all of them under dealer agreements?

AMEN to that! Just got in today 05 ranger 6x6 with NO oil in tank with 684 hrs with NO service! Drained sump, and what little drops in tank, checked valves (intake tight),replaced plug, air filter, oil and filter. Think I may have saved it,but cam chain has a little excess slack, customer will takes as is (hope it holds up)! Also took in 04 700 with rear rack support and rack damage, plus rear cab damage! Was loaned to area police department and officer that wrecked has both ELBOWS broken! Just one of my typical days! Farm/ranch machines,RENTAL machines, kids(sweet as they are can do massive damage) and last but not least BROTHER-IN-LAWS! If I had a dollar for every time I've heard this**** O well Just in a days work! At least I'm working!
