Default fuel pump potential problem

I have a sportsman 600 that has a real puzzling issue. This is an on again, off again problem that does not seem to be consistent. When running normally (warmed up) and idling, it seems to all of a sudden starve itself of gas, causing it to die. In order to start it up again, I must choke it and 85% of the time, I can run the rpms up high enough to get it running normally again. 15% of the time, I end up flooding it so bad that it will not even start up again. I have had it in the shop for the post 6 weeks and they have completely ruled out the carb as they have gone over it and rebuilt it twice now. They are now suspecting it might be the fuel pump cutting out every once in a while.

Has anybody had this type of issue before?

thanks, Eric

Check the vacume line that runs from right above the intake boot to the fuel pump, may be old and cracked.

thats the line that isnt a fuel line that runs directly to the engine to feed vacume to the pump which operates the pump.
