Default New here and need help!

Hello all,

I found this site and I have read a few post and thought I would join to see if I could get a little help. I have a 800 sportsman and I love it, but now it is broke.

My question is, has anyone experienced any front diff problems on an 800?
I managed to get pretty stuck and toasted the roller cage in the front diff, when this happened a small piece of the plastic from it got between the ring gear and the pinion gear and caused the aluminum housing to crack very little around the pilot hole where the end of the pinion gear rides in a bushing. Let me know what I can do please, cause the only thing I know is buy a new housing and it runs around $430.Has anyone else managed to do this or I am I just that hard on stuff.

I have had the cage in the hub the "explode" when someone was riding my machine, got stuck & hit the AWD while spinning.

Also broke a CV joint while winching out & getting the tires pushed hard one way while still givin it.

Neither of my machines had the AWD in the differential though.

I have been looking on e-bay and a couple other places but the problem is only 2007 and 2008 will work as these are the only ones that the pinion comes out at an angle the older ones come out straight back toward the rear of the wheeler.
Also I did have a pretty good aluminum welder look at it and he said he cannot really get to it, the breakage is on the opposite side of the ring gear so the only way to get to it is where the pinion gear is and it is to small diameter and to deep to reach it. Thanks I appreciate all the help from everyone. P.S. Be careful with your 08 800 so this does not happen to you.

I am going to contact my local john deere dealer but best I can tell it is for the older than 07 model. It has the pinion coming straight back and mine is in an angle.
