Jetting
#1
There has been alot of talk about re-jetting during cold weather. I do most of the mech work myself and have altered the jetting on past machines but I have never had to change jetting in the winter. I ride a 97 Scrambler 500 which I purchased new and have never had any troubles with the change of seasons, am I just lucky or are the Pa winters not severe enough to cause any problems with being to lean or rich ?

As you know, from the factory they jet all bikes rich(or aleast middle of the row). So you will run alittle rich in the summer and a little lean in the winter. Not enough to blow it on cold days and not to fowl to many plugs in the summer. But if your a more serious rider try to again every ounce of hp's from your machine, all year long. Then you need to check jetting every ride, or atleast change every 30 degrees or so. That's the race proven rejetting schedule. A correctly jetted unit will out spank a poorly jetted unit any time! Unless your on an E-ton 50 and I'm on my DS!
