If it works it works new or used.
What happened to the old speedo, maybe you just have a bad "Hall Effect" sensor.
I have been running mine with only a working hour meter for 3 year because I just have not gotten around to change the Hall Effect senor.
I,m just using the wind in my face as a speedo for now.

If your in a hurry or want a free way to get your AWD back there is a simple by pass wiring procedure to have awd without the speedo being involved with its operation.
Not sure how its done, but use the "search" feature on this site and find it. Its been posted countless of times.
No way I,m buying a speedo off of Polaris for $300 the day it conks out.

just jump the ground wires to a new ground that go to you front wheels..we just did thid on a 1999 sportsman 500...that would be the brown wires..the gray are the hot wires...

In case anyone was wondering, the Hall Effect Sensor on the wheel was only used since 1999. Before that it was just a cable running back to the transmission which wasn't as accurate, but it was usually just a little key that broke. My friend replaced the one on his Sportsman 335 last month. I guess replacing a $300 speedo instead of a $3 key is the price of progress.
