New 800

Well folks, finally did it! Put a deposit on a sunset red 08 800 efi and am picking it up this week! Am extremely pumped and am looking forward to leveling a few mud holes.
Was a long drawn out process of research, test drives etc until I arrived at the ultimate decision, the polaris 800 was the best bang for the buck avail. Test drove a lot including the Can Am 650, 800, Grizzly 700 (EPS), and rode the bro's Cat 650 and Polaris 700. Didn't get a chance to ride the Brute but don't like it's inferior 4x4 system, poor fit and finish and extra money you'd spend on stock tire/wheel upgrades. Didn't consider the King Quad due to it's hideous look. Can-am owners will say the power isn't comparable but it's bunch of BS, I was hard pressed to notice the power difference between the Can Am's and Polaris, they all hauled ***. Would be slight difference in a race between the Can-am 800 and the Polaris but very little. Can Ams were a sporty ride and ALMOST pulled the trigger, but didn't like the hollow single tube frame, and the extra $300-400 that you'd have to spend on skid plates. Bought the Polaris for $8500 with winch installed which is an all time low here in Canada. The Can Am 800 was $2500 more, plus skid plates. Grizzly EPS was nice but was also too expensive, had a noticeble low end lag and was slightly down on power in comparison, and didn't have the ride. Bro's AC 650 had trouble spinning it's tires in loose gravel, and had bump steer that would throw you into the trees.
Bottom line, the Polaris rides like it's on air, has the best stock tire/wheel combo, most storage, best 4x4 system, gobs of power, and had the bets price, the math was a no brainer! The new 850 looks quite sweet, and may look at it in a couple years but it sure made for some nice prices on the 08's!! YAHHOOOO!!

Felt the same way as you countryboy. I am very happy with my polaris 800. Had my heart initially set on the Can Am's but after test riding and comparing price i came to the same decision as you.
Enjoy!!! Its a blast ( not to stable at 72mph ) ha ha
