Default OPT need your help again

99 500 just replaced the cam, think the compression relief is in wrong but another topic. Now I am wondering what you would start with. No electric start now and progressively went bad all saturday until nothing on sunday. I have to hit the starter and pull the cord to get it started with the compression issue so without both no start.

Starter button is kinda hard to push up if that thing was going out would it draw enough sitting overnight to kill the battery??? I put the charger back on the battery and it seems to be taking a charge??? When I was having the running problems before I had the battery checked and it was fine but I suppose it could have gone south too.

Where would you start looking????

Thanks as always you guys are the best!!!!

First check that cam compression spring and lever in proper position, will cause problems on starting and running properly. If you are having to pull rope and electric start both then sounds like detent on exhaust cam not correct? Cam timing SPOT on also? Spring tensions around lever and dowel pin, should push up and release with your finger when it bottoms against dowel pin! Have had some customer when spring and lever comes out (and it will) not sure which way it goes back, had one customer that lost the spring, installed anyway! Didnt wont to work very good! Good luck

After the charger was on a couple minutes I did try it, the starter spun up but didn't engage at all, so I am thinking that starter switch is probably ok. Battery or starter maybe???

I did try pull starting again seemed easier than yesterday but still pretty tough. I'll take the cam cover off and check out that spring to see what the deal is there maybe.

If starter motor working, possible bendix sticking, not engaging flywheel. Remove recoil housing, wiggle out bendix, check function,if cleaning wont help, replace.

Spring on the compression on wrong, put it on right and it pulls way easier. I should have checked it closer out of the box. Charged up battery turns it over now with ease. I'll see if it holds a charge overnight otherwise I'll replace it and should be good to go.

Thanks for the help!!!
