Had same issue on the wife's SP450 (Must be a spouse thing, LOL).
I found that my carb was gunked up, had to take it apart and clean
it. A good set of Orfice needles did the job with wiping it clean using
Carb cleaner spray. Also the throttle cable needed some adjusting,
runs GREAT! If it has sat for a few months at rest do it anyways, as
the weather cold to warm to cold again cause the condesation to build
in the CARB.
Future prevention:
Recommend Gas stablizer fluid (any that recommended for ATV or Motorcycles)
and turn of Gas Valve off and run it till gas is out of lines when cunks out.

FYI, two of the bottom two posters here recommended the following when
