Why 4x4 is better than

Not better, Just different, They were built for different riding situations. I really don't think a person would be making a choice between the two if they were in the market for a new atv. I like my scrambler for short fun runs. It is more fun to ride than the Honda hands down. All day rides and my butt goes numb on that skinny seat. Then again I am not far from being an official geriatric that needs to go on a diet. Slick Eagle

Shumdit,
what did you expect to accomplish. Should we sell our Polarises and buy Honda? What is your point?
WE like our machines,we know they are the best and we are very patient with non Polaris owners.
It takes time ,but we know, one day, even you are going to be a proud Polaris owner. Untill then you don't know what you're missing.

Colt,
My hope was that Polaris will note that not everyone is in love with Polaris, but I, a Honda owner would actually consider "jumping ship" and buying a Polaris if they could improve their quality. As for the statement "we know they are the best" well that is your opinion, and you know what they say about opinions. As for the "until then you don't know what your missing, I repeat- "THE GUYS I RODE WITH SHOWED ME WHAT I WOULD HAVE BEEN MISSING HAD I BEEN ON THEIR POLARIS' LAST WEEKEND" and I gotta tell ya, that ain't much! The reason I titled my post "why 4x4 is better than all wheel drive" is just a joke because someone had recently posted a topic in this forum titled "why all wheel drive is better than 4x4" or something like that. That was just a joke, but the breakdowns were not a laughing matter. One of the breakdowns was/is just a fan motor, but a mechanical failure is still a failure, esp. on a machine that new. I am a Polaris fan and would like to own one if the quality improved, but the "we know our machines are the best" and "my sportsman can go 80 m.ph. and jump tall buildings in a single bound" crap is a definite turn off- I don't know if I will admit I own one when I buy it for fear of being stereotyped with idiots who make opinions and fantasies read like they are facts. If you don't want to let me express my concerns without jumping me, that is your right. But if you look at the big picture you will see posts like mine, and for that matter, ones in the Honda forums about their shortcomings, can have a positive effect when manufacturer's have access to our feedback. That is my point.

Shumdit,
I was certainly kidding and the entire post should've been marked LOL,but I was just curious what reaction I may trigger.
A couple years ago this kind of post would call out a stormy, emocional reaction, people would've called you names, etc. Nowadays everyone was cool.
I like it, we are much more mature, actually the crowd today is more helpful then some time ago.
So,I certainly respect any brand and opinion. I like my sp500 , but I keep my eyes open.I would never change IRS for anything else,I like am. made stuff.

Colt, thanks for your reply. Your statement about liking American made quads made me think. I know Rubicons/Ranchers and other Honda quads are built in Ohio and South Carolina. To me that is American made. Some would say that's not true because some components are made out of the U.S. and the bike is only assembled in the U.S. If I am not mistaken, the engines that Polaris uses or used (they may have changed) are built by Fuji, which is no more American than Honda or Kawasaki.I also know that many Chevrolets, Fords, etc. are built in Mexico and Canada, which may be North American , but hardly what you and I would consider "American Made". This is just a thought, since I have seen the "American Made" issue by Polaris and, I think, Arctic Cat owners before. What is your opinion?

rancheres,
I certainly did say that. And in a earlier post I even said I had alot of problems out of my Sportsman,I just did'nt get into the details.I fail to see what point your trying to make,if any?
The Xplorer on the other hand is just about as sweet a 4x4 ATV that I can get,Its 110lbs lighter[588lbs] compared to the Sportsmans 697lbs.Throttle response is far superiour, and the ride is pretty damn good to.I do wish the Xplorer was completely shaft driven though,
