Default 96 xplorer loses top end power

Hi all I am a newbe to the ATV forum and this is the problum with my ATV....
The last few rides i've noticed that when under load going up any sort of hill that I start to loss power either on the trail or road ....
The things that we have tried to trouble shot the loss of power is change the drive belt, new air and fuel filter, spark plug and pulled the carb out and changed the seat and pin. As well, made sure that every thing is clean and well lubercated, the ATV is in great shape and has not been abused.
It starts the first try when warm and needs little choking when cold. When pulling the pull start there feels that there is a fair bit of compression.

you really need a compression tested to test it. did you check the seconday clutch buttons(ramps) to see if they were worn out? does the engine bog, spit sputter or just loose rpm's?

Thank for the reply. Its a bog with no spitting or sputtering and when under load it is like its not hitting its power band or falls off the power band and starts to loss some rpm's....... One buddy thought it could be a air flow issue through the exahast.

Check your rear clutch ramp buttons as suggested, could be your problem! Repaired 2 this week, similar complaint,no power under load. In Both cases ramp buttons melted! Good luck

#5436521 takes 3 in rear driven clutch, wedged shape. Check parts polarisind.com website for parts breakdown. Old part # supercedes to this new #. Good luck
