Howdy everyone.....what's the trick to replace a frayed tailgate cable on a 2007 X2 500. Looks like an easy job, just back out the two screws and replace.....but when backing out the screw from the tailgate ....the plastic at the end of the tailgate bulges out and I can feel pressure to the point of breaking something inside the tailgate. Any ideas? Thanx

I haven't had to take that bolt out. I did undo the one on the box when I replaced the box after a roll on its side. Does the bolt still feel like it's coming out? If it feels like it is spinning I wonder if the nut came loose inside and is spinning against the plastic??? I'll try to take a look at it tomorrow and see what happens.

Howdy Moose....the bolt does want to come out and as the bolt starts out...the plastic will also.....it's like the bolt has a built in washer on the other side. I also removed the 3 screws on each end and the 6 bolts that keeps the tailgate together. The tailgate still won't come apart. I didn't know the tailgate was that well built and heavy duty until I started working on it. Thanx for your reply......let me know.
