alright got 99 scambler i got all my clutching done on it the TEAM secondary was really good investment..
but i still have the problem of backfiring and loosing power on top end!!! when back fires it only when lettin off throttle . and no power is when staying on throttle on top speeds..is something messed up in the carb or fuel pump?? its also leakin lil fuel out of the fuel shut off valve would this be enough to suck in air while riding it??
any help on this would help..
p.s does ur guys fuel filter stay full of gas when runnin or does it stay real low like mine??

If throttle has too much slack can backfire when coming down from full throttle,Etc must be adjusted to about 1/8" slack at thumb throttle. Try this first to see if helps! Fuel filter doesnt always stay full,but if leaking as you say probably wont! If doesnt have full power could be carb related?

Do you have a 400 or 500 Scrambler?What mods do you have (what clutch springs and weights)Popping on deceleration can be a lean condition.The loss of top power can be shifting out too soon but you need a tach to get that down.

ftwflh.. i got the 500ho. red epi spring, team roller secondary, thats about it.. when riding high speeds it seem like just starts fallin on face lil then come back and if ride like that for couple miles it will backfire and come to stop and just wont move just idle and then after 30 sec maybe goes againi think its fuel sytem such as carb or something...
also what jet do u have in yours???

Sounds like you have a dirty pre filter.
I have the HPD airbox/carb mod with I think either a 165 or 180 main cant remember right off.

would u be able to check anyway to see what u got in urs for sure for jet cuz that big difference between 165 and 180... for dirty prefilter it maybe cuz i rode in grass for lil bit without filter at all and was alot better... bet was never on wide open throttle long enough to see if it does that crap on the top end..
also hpd quit makin that air box mod im pretty sure would u be able to send me pics of it and stuff if pm'd u my email

I cant/wont pull my carb but I am running the jet that came in the kit for an aftermarket exhaust.The still make the carb mod just not the lid.
