Default 2004 Ranger 4x4

My mother has a 2004 Ranger 4x4 that has been worked on by a guy that says he knew what he was doing.

Long story short I got the fuel pump back on that he "ripped" off not cut.

New battery has been installed, my issue is it will start and run but it smokes like crazy and "pours" fuel out of the small hose on the bottom of the carb. I have adjusted the screw on the bottom for idle for about an hour with no results.

It seems that it is getting way to much fuel.

Am I on the right track or is there somewhere else I should look?

Thanks

Replace needle valve assembly, probably worn, allowing too much fuel in float chamber then flowing out overflow tube! Smoking can be result of too much fuel also. ALSO check oil tank to see if smells like gas contaminated, replace oil and filter if necessary. Good luck ALSO if have fuel pump #4010658 could be bad, recalled on a certain year model, BUT usually would not pump, doesnt sound like your problem though.Replaced with # 4011545 on later models.
