Default Opinions please, on 88 trail boss 250

I'm looking for a inexpensive Auto ATV for my wife to keep up to me and my son when we ride. (she doesn't like to shift) I came across a 1988 Trail Boss 250. I'm going to see it tomorrow. Just wondering if there is any bad stories about these, like anything prone to going wrong. He claims its runs well, and has nothing wrong with it besides the normal wear of a 88. He was asking 800 OBO. I already told him I can only go to $650 at best, and he agreed. Of course I did not check it out yet. I did call some dealerships and most parts are still available for that year. So is there any good or bad things I should know about one of these? Would it be worth 650 if it is in descent shape??

My first bike was a 1988 trailboss 250 and let me tell ya' I bought it as a rolling frame and a box of parts called a motor, after I got done putting it back together, it runs like a beast, still does to this day, I honestly beleive you could put a stick of dynamite in the muffler and it will still run.LOL. Great for trails and it has a whole lot of pep, In my opinion buying one for $650 would be a steal.
