One of my riding buddies is running 28X12X12 front and rear. He put a 2 inch lift on. Your are safe with 27's but if you go bigger I would put a lift. Not worth getting a lift and messing around with your drive line geometry if you ask me.

What good would wide front tires do??? I don't think it's going to help your handling at all and you'll probably be pushing through the corners. With a bigger wider tire you will be adding stress to ball joints, cv's, tire rod ends etc. I don't think your Sportsman would look too cool with tires on the front as wide as the rear. Well he thinks it will look good and thats all that matters. After all, we can't all have our quads looking the same! LOL! As for handling, it does make it more stable (less likely to roll) especially when you are going to lift it. And as for putting more stress on components, I have neither seen nor heard of anyone whose atv has worn out prematurely because of adding an inch or two wider wheels or spacers. I just don't buy it. I do agree it causes more stress than leaving it stock, but not to the point where you are going to replace parts all the time. The only real concern, imo, with making the atv wider is the ability to get through tight trails, especially when there are width limits like we have in my area at OHV parks.

12 inch wide front tires are good if all your concerned with is mudding ( thats what my buddy is into ). They suck for handling, they add more floatation and a larger footprint for when your getting into the sloppy stuff.

I didnt say anything about spacers! I was talking about tires as wide as the back put onto the front.
