I'm back
#1
About a month ago, a buddy came over with his 800 and we were playing in the pits, made some new trails and climbs. Started playing follow the leader, he went up one of the new climbs, normally I would have been right behind him, but this climb has a nasty top, so I held back a little just in case he didn't make it. After he cleared, I followed, topping out I followed his tracks in the grass. Ok now maybe that wasn't the smart thing, but we had played so much here, I was pretty **** sure, he wasn't as brave as I was, so I was pretty confident. To make a long story short, I followed his tracks to what I thought was a downhill jaunt. Instead it was a cliff. He had driven up to it, then backed down {a fact which had I known would have saved my *** alot of pain] Over I went, happened so fast I didn't even know until it was on top of me. As I went over over, I heard and feelt my neck pop and crack, then the middle of my back...I thought for sure I would be a cripple. Laying there with the machine on top of me, those thoughts race thru your mind. Then she started to rev on me, scared the **** out of me, kicked with what I had left and somehow the machine rolled off me. I lay there, catching my breath, after about a minute I tried to get up. I could move!!!! I knew then I would be ok. It took about ten minutes before I could move enough to get to a point where I could get My buddys attention. He freaked, guess my head was bleeding pretty bad and blood was down my face, Hell my head didn't hurt, my back and neck were killing me.
But everything was ok, broke the mirror off the quad, anteena off my phone. Next 3 weeks I was in pain [thank god for pain killers] I rode the next day, well I took it out. I tried riding everyday for the next 3 weeks but they were short rides. I'm finally back to riding like I used to, now it's just the aches and pains of getting back in riding shape.
Looking back, I probably should have gone to the doctors, but I hate them bastards. More worried about me losing weight than what ails ya.
lol, Now besides riding I got alot of catching up on grooming the trails. The flats in the pits are getting pretty moguled up, have to take the drag down there and try to get them into shape again.
Happy riding and see you soon

Wow - guess all-in-all you can consider yourself lucky. Sounds like it could have been a lot worse. Glad to hear you're okay. But stories like this should be a reminder to ALL of us to be CAREFULL when on our machines. It only takes a split second, as Stendori's says, to change your life forever.
By the way Sultan - I know what you mean about the Doctors. I could go in with a gaping head wound and they will tell me I need to lose weight.

You've been very lucky, but I think you're pushing your luck not getting checked out by a doctor. I've heard of people having broken necks without knowing it for a few weeks before they did something just out of the usual and became paraplegics.
Just put up with their crap for a few hours and know for sure you're ok! Hey maybe they'll have a couple of cute nurses
Good luck!

Glad you made out well. Thanks for sharing, it's another lesson for the safety tool box.
As said these machines can be dangerous and it is really easy for us to take that for granted. I about had a disaster on my 850 a few days ago..it woke me for sure, but it seems no matter how hard we try time fades those scary times and we go back to doing what we do. But if we can just keep a hint of all these little lessons in mind it may just save a life.
Oh and ditto on waht MickJP said....go get looked at!
