Xp idea

I agree Highoctane, the "old" sportsmans will probably be faded out, a thing of the past. The new 850 motor will probably be in the rzr as well in a year or two. I can just imagine the 6X6 850, what an unstopable mud beast!!!

Good idea...I like your forward thinking! Might want to send that to Polaris...and give them a "hint...hint".

I emailed Polaris a couple years back about the 6x6 Sportsman. I said it should have IRS with driveshafts, a bigger engine, and the storage that they have with the Sportsman. I also mentioned they should make an X2 version of the 6x6. They did all but the X2 part. Pause while I pat myself on the back. I hope they make the XP idea that shank thought up. I feel the 500 is more than powerful enough but a little more never hurts.

I agree Opie and so do some poeple I know who have dealt with Polaris for many years. The old Sportsman is rumored to be going away completely in favor of the XP version. The question is how long until it does. Some say as soon as next year, I'm not sure I buy that it will be that quick. In any case once that happens then obviously there will have to be a X2 and or a Touring ect ect. I think Polaris was very smart to introduce the XP as an upscale model that way if people didn't like it they could easily scrap it,or re-work it all while still selling the tried and true Sportsman. I think once the sales numbers and time to sell per unit come in Polaris will look alot harder at making the XP the flagship ATV. JMO

I would like to see the rear rack a little longer on the XP, there can't be but about 10"- 12" between the seat and the back of the rack on the current model.
A few inches would make it much more usable for hauling larger items!

I would have to agree that the XP will move to the entire full size line in the near future...it wouldn't make much sense to spend the time and money to develope the XP bikes not to utilize the tech gained from this investment to improve the rest of the Polaris lines!
The addition of at least a touring edition of the XP seems to be a natural extension of the XP's platform, with the increasing popularity of 2-up riding I would expect it to be here very soon with a good possibility for 2010!
I would guess that as soon as Polaris sees a dip in 800 and 500 EFI sales numbers, and 850 and 550 production capability can meet demand, the older machines will be fazed out.
