While in Park, my atv starts w/o problem, idles w/o problems, rev's. up to high rpm w/o problems. However, once I start down the road it lugs to a complete stop, dies, backfires occasionally and requires restart. This happens repeatedly, can't go for more than a few hundred yards and the machine just slows to a stop and dies. I have tried to run it at constant speeds-slow-fast-and in-between speeds without success. No fault codes, just a sick puppy for some odd reason. Please advise!

Sounds like t-bap sensor wiring short, sensor located on top of throttle body.Repair kits available. Also when key on does fuel pump prime up? Could be one or the other

Thank you, this is exactly what has been tried/replaced and yet I still have the same darn problem. Any other clue? I am baffled as your advice has worked on other machines with same issue.

I can't say for certain now that you mention it and I don't have the bike here at this time. If the fuel pump did not prime up would it still be able idle and rev/maintain high rev. w/o failure? It want to quit under load. I will most certainly look/listen for fuel pump to prime up tomorrow morning. If you have other advice I am an open ear. Thank you!

if the fuel pump is breakinf down it would do it under a load quicker then just a rev up. when it shuts off, does it start right back up. when you turn the key on you should hear the pump prime up for a couple of seconds. back firing could be the result of running lean from running out of gas. make sure when this happens that the vent hoses isnt plugged or pinched. try unscrewing the gas cap to see if its under pressure as well. just a couple of ideas.

Hello again,
It does start again w/o failure-immediately. I can drive it like nothing is wrong for a couple hundred yards then the problem occurs. Very frustrating. I can also smell strong odor of gas after the first couple of times the atv quits, however, it starts right up.

How would I find out if my ATV was/is on recall-can I find out without going through a shop?
