Whats wrong with my polaris predator 500
#1
Recently I bought a Polaris Predator 500 and i bought it knowing it would have problems and didnt run. I got it for cheap so i just had to get it. I asked the previous owner what was wrong with it and he said that they were out on an outing and it was kinda burning some oil. The oil was running pretty low so they changed the oil and then they went to start it and it was making weird noises. They stopped rinding it so they said. Now there is absoultly no compression and it dosent even start. It turns but doesnt start. i think that the problem is the rings but im not sure. And if it is the rings do you think i will need to replace the piston too?? How will i be able to tell what the problem is?? Please help

Eliminate that valves may have tightened up,common problem on Predator. Has bucket shims valve system, but if was smoking badly and now no compression, probably will have to tear down head and cylinder to check damage. Piston could be galled, plus check rod for excess up and down play/damage. Could need just top end or may need to be completely rebuilt. Also shim kit possibly needed upon repair to get correct valve clearance. Manual highly recommended either from fellow members or purchase. Good luck
