just finshed watching it (got it in the mail) and was interested inthe over heat section. when they showed the 850 at 30 minutes not overheated compared to the outland at 16 min. overheated i noticed the xp was only reving at 1210 rpms. dont know about the others but thats only idling so i wonder how the test really was done. i do like the fact they added a bigger rad though since that was a major down fall of the big bore 800. imo.

The vids come one a DVD Polaris is mailing out. It is the comparo vids, they are on the web, someone has hosted them. Can't remeber if the link has been posted here but I think it has. I know it has on HL.
850 idle is 1200 +/-100..mine idles at 1200 solid. The 550 probably idles higher due to being a single.

Yep, I got my DVD last week. I only watched the 850 comparisons. While I'm a Polaris fan, I think one has to take the comparisons with a grain of salt. Everyone has their own riding style, and likes and dis-likes.

Yeah they are cheeesy IMO,all manufacturers comparison vids tend to be that way. Way too much editing and staging to be anything more than a way to kill a few minutes.

I don't think the rpms shown can be assumed to be the rpms the test was performed at. It was just a close up of the instrument cluster to show the hot light wan't on. I do know that my friends yamaha will heat in a short time if you are pulling hard with it. I've never had my sportsman overheat while working it hard. I've raked hay with it with no problems at all and pulled a disc that is way to heavy for it.
