head bolts

i just lost a head bolt on my sportsman. how often do you need to retorque them?

WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY LOST?? DID IT FALL OFF, COME LOOSE, LOSE COMPRESION? WE NEED MORE INFO AS TO WHAT HAPPENED.

it fell out. i found it laying in the back of my pickup after i hauled it.

You mean valve cover bolt right. I know of a 2000 mag that did the same thing but he never found his. is it a 10 mm or 3/8 head if it is put some silicone on it and put it back.snug it up and ride baby ride.

Head bolts shouldn't need re-torquing. If one came loose, something is amiss. I agree that it might be a valve cover bolt. If it is, put it back in snug with a dab of removable thread locker & it won't dome loose again.

I had myself freaked out thinking I was running with loose headbolts. Thank god for this forum so we can clear stuff like this up.
