Yah,
I had this exact same problem with my ATP, basically the mechanic told me I could do one of two things, replace most of the guts of the front gear carrier, or quit doing donuts. I opted to quit doing donuts.

Thanks for the links, I did go to John deer and order the parts:
MIA 10667
Mia 10666
Mia 10665
Mia 10656
Mia 10654
total cost= 178.34 canadian
my question is how hard is it to change this out, I am pritty good mech. wise but have never done this on a quad yet. will I need any special tools, eg. something to remove the cv joints, boots or what have you??
any good diagrams,instructions out there?
thanks

Just called polaris in town here to see what they would sell me parts for, everything I mentioned in previous thread, from polaris would cost 681.54 canadian. I told them thank you and that I would never buy from them again, and then I told polaris I was going to buy a gator!
what the hell is wrong with this company?

I don't know. What IS wrong with Polaris.
In my experience, the people who complain the most are the ones who abuse their machines the most. I've been riding Sportsmans for a little over 11 years and never broke any front-end parts. Except I broke a tie-rod end when I hit a tree stump really hard.

Thanks for that, but you know I am not jugding you or how you ride, and I am really happy for your 11 years of riding.just watch out for those tree stumps in the future!
So if I can't ride a machine "hard" as you put it whats the point.reguardless I love polaris machines thus is why I bought a sportsman 800! so if you have nothing to say about the topic then keep your opinions about people to yourself!
cheers!
first ride was a new 1992 polaris scrambler-drove it into the ground- and it was fun!
proud owner of 2004 Victory Vegas, total custom! over 35000 miles on her and still best at show!
this is the main reason I bought another polaris- love the bike, awsome service, thousands of compliments!
2006 Sportsman 800 great quad, JUST HATE HOW BAD THE DEALERS RAPE A GUY FOR THE PRICE OF PARTS!
Keep the shinny side up,and the smart *** remarks to yourself.
thanks to everyone else for the great advise!
