Polaris Winch Problem #%&*@#$
Since 06 Polais has used its own winch desinged and tested by them POLARIS WINCH and I have not heard much if anything good about them. On my 04 Sportsman it does have a Warn winch with Polaris's name on it but the new ones are all Polaris like this one!

Yea, I was just on the Polaris web site checking out all their new On-line intro videos. When it speaks about the
Polaris winch, it really oversells the quality and warranty, you may want to launch that plug in on their web site and
see if it is the same brand you have, a little more you can hold their (Polaris dealership) feet to the fire.
Regards and hope you get this resolved!

I own a 2006 Sportsman 800 with the Warn 2500 winch (installed from dealer when purchased). I have replaced the solenoid and the rocker switch twice due to the same issue described in this string where the winch will work one way, but not the other. I emailed Warn and this is the reply:
Under normal usage we have not seen any extreme failure rate on the contactors being used with the 2500lb winches. Now if the winch is being used routinely in an application such as plowing there are a lot of factors that can contribute to them failing quicker.
The only real “upgrade” that could be done would be to use a contactor from one of the heavier winches which would be a P/N 76429. We use this with the 4000lb and higher ATV winches.
