Mine has made the same noise since day 1. I just assumed it was normal. Mine is the same way it only does it after i put in in gear and take off. Then it does not do it untill i switch gears again. I have 210 miles on it so far and no problems yet.</end quote></div>
Exaclty. It only doesn't when you take off the first time after you change gears. I've noticed it is a little louder when cold, and a little louder in reverse on mine.
I don't think it is the same driveline lash issue the old sportys have. In anycase I do believe it is normal. To me the sound seems to come from the clutch/transmission area. I susect something with the clutch, but it only does it on the first engagement in a gear. And on mine it is a sharp "clack",not real loud, but sharp.... Mine has done it since day 1.
On my old sportman the noise seem to come from slop being taken from the entire driveline, prop shafts, diffs ect. it was more of a deep "clunk" and would do it all the time, especially going down hills if you were on and off the gas.
Ok,as usual I got carried away,lol.
Bottomline TechRider-Like everyone else said,Don't sweat it. Ride and enjoy.
