Something is wrong with your 4WD system. Changing your hub oil is a VERY good idea to do at least once a year. It ensures proper engagement/disengagement of your front hubs. If your hubs are too tight they will act like they are in 4WD. Drive it around for awhile and play with it too see if problem persists. Sometimes the 4WD switch will act up. Jack up your front end and spin both wheels and feel for wheel wiggle. If problem continues, you may have to get some work done on your hubs. How dirty was the oil that you drained? Remember, water, sand, ect. are hard on thses parts. Good luck. Adam

I change hub oil yearly and have expierenced one or the other hub engage when it shouldnt right after the change. A quick ride around the yard and A-ok. I dont know if the oil needs to work its way in or what. I allways use the Polaris hub oil. Ive never had any problems with my 4 wheel or hubs. Where you having this problem before you changed the oil?

My hubs would lock-up also when the machine was cold but once warmed up it seemed to be ok. Little bit of machince history: Recently bought it, was showroom model, had 116 miles on it. Well I took those hubs apart, cause I kept getting slughe? (goop), on my plug and cleaned the whole assembly. Once reassembled, I tighten the hub nut once the wheel started to drag then loosened it then finger tighten it, insert coter pin, refill, done.
So far everything works fine. I think you need to get rid of that slugde?

If you are still having problems with your hub, do this. Disassemble the hub. Check out your magnets and wiring to your 4WD switch. Next assemble hub and torque nut to 400 in. pounds, back nut off half turn, then final torque to 200 in. pounds. This is the Polaris way of doing it. it works.

Sorry your tourqe specs are wrong!!!!!!!!!Spindel nut 160 to 170 " lbs while continusaly rotating hub. Then back off the nut 1/2 turn, Rotate inner axel several revolutions. Then retourqe to 108 to 144" lbs. Do not go over 144"lbs for final tourque. This is how polaris does it.

Sorry if my specs were out of spec. I was told by my Polaris dealership about those specs, this does not mean they are always right. Good luck fixing your 4WD. Polaris On-Demand is a good system. Many people consider it the best in the business.
