Changing a CV boot?

How fast can you write a check for $60.00? LOL
There is a learning curve involved here. Your first one could take 2 1/2 hours or more.
But then again, somebody will write in and say that they changed theirs last weekend out in the whatever swamp right there on the trail in less than 1/2 hour.

Unclamp what is left of the boot, disconnect ball joint and tie rod end... pull strut tower out, replace boot onto axel, reinsert axel into cv joint, reclamp boot, reattach tie rod and ***** joint. I have not tried this in a swamp, but it did take me an hour the first time. Now it takes around 30 minutes. Of course this assumes that your grease is not contaminated. Also I have done this on sportsmans and Grizzlys, never a Scrambler. Should be the same.

Thanks for the input! It doesn't sound to bad to do. What does a new boot run from Polaris? What clamps do you replace the old one with? Do you need a special tool for the clamps? and is the shaft splined and have to indexed correctly or is there only one way for it to go back together?
Thanks again for the help,
Jason

I’d like to know where you found the boot for $10 also; I bought the kit from Polaris for around $30 came with clamps and grease. I got the ‘special’ pliers from the auto part store and found they were junk, finally got it 3 clamps later with needle nose pliers. Has anyone found a decent pair of pliers for the large clamp?
