If its not broke don,t fix it,but if it is I would imagine metal trumps another plastic replacement any day.

My buddy is having trouble with his 2003 700, being locked in AWD. I went to look up the part on cycle parts and they list his cage as aluminum. Is this correct, or did they go to a plastic cage after the 03 model year?

BUMP.
Really looking for some guidance from you guys, I am not famililar witht he Polaris models. If the 2003 700 has an aluminum cage, than what else would cause the front diff to be stuck in AWD?
Should I start a new thread?

when looking it up thru polaris it says alum. as well but w/ no part number so im guessing you cant get that part anymore and most likely has been switched to the plastic one. just guessing

Is anyone aware of other polaris owners having the front diff problems with 03 or older machines, or was it a problem mostly with the 04 and later?
If the 2003 has an aluminum cage, then it should not be the cage that is the problem like on the plastic equiped machines.
Just a guess. ultimately we may have to tear the diff out and disassemble to get to the bottom of it, I was just trying to avoid that if I could.
