just bought my 2nd Outlander 800 XT...incredible machine....I cant help it though...the NEW Polaris 850 XP has caught my eye. I have a lust for power.
After watching the demo on this machine...I have a question...the Outlander has a total FUN factor...it simply has an incredible ride/ handling/ power.
How does the 850 do with just plain fun riding...this includes rocks, bogs, gravel...you name it. I think I already know the answer.

On a scale of 0 to 10 the 850 rates a 20. The Power Steering is unreal. You can go over downed trees at off angles without any kickback. The smoothness of the throttle is very good. You can crawl over stuff then nail it and get instant power.
I have a friend that had several atv's. He had a 700 Sportsman then bought the CanAm 800XT. He spent $1200 on Shocks went to different tires just to get the CanAm to ride and handle like the 700. He then sold the 700 to another friend. He went and got a 2008 800 Sportsman and put the CanAm up for sale. Then a third friend made an offer for the 800 and he sold it. The guy who has the 800 now rode my XP now he wishes he had waited on the XP. The CanAm is still up for sale because He wants a XP too.

Just to add you can crawl over off angle trees ect on a non-eps with no kickback as well with the stock offset wheel..its all in the design of the steering geometry..quite amazing really. While the 850 might not quite keep up with the 800 Outty in a short drag it has quite a bit of power and I doubt there is a stock utility atv out there that will keep up with it on a fast trail..the outtys handling and ride do not compare to the XP...
I ride mine like a sport quad from time to time and it's got plenty of fun factor for me..just watch hard cornering with the stock tires as it does tend to push some..and coming out of hard turns and getting back in it (WOT) it will pull the front end up unexpectly fast from time to time when the right rear gets a good bite...but hey that's fun! lol

I like the second review even better that the one guy gave about the Grizz.
I am glad Polaris finaly released a very competetive machine lets just hope they hold up to all the hype!

Yea, he was probably looking to start some kind of controversy or argument. Doesn't matter... the link HO posted makes the whole thread worthwhile.
