rr-john,

As many others are chiming in, I for one have NEVER had a POLARIS winch. But like DCT said, plenty have
told me they were junk. I could of got a much better deal with Polaris and my dealer and other posters said
they fixed all those issues (all of them I do not know). BUT, I opted for the WARN 2500 and its been great with
NO issues yet going on 3yrs old.

I think you made the RIGHT decision with WARN!

rr,
GREAT choice!
BTW, will it mount to the stock bracket or did you need to buy a new one?

mine died before the 1 year warrenty so I got a new one from dealer. The brake in it stopped working would not lock up and pull. I also deal with the bad contactor sometimes wont go up or sometimes down but will always work 1 way or the other.Like it best when it wont go down at least you can drop it

Reading all the negative - I would likely buy a Warn or Ramsey next time, however, I have the Polaris 3.0 (with synthetic) and have never had an issue (except the remote cap which likes to pop off al the time - had to put a velcro strap around it.)

My polaris winch died on me the first snow fall, just lifting the plow. The machine was only 7 months old. Dealer replaced the winch but I had to pay for the re and re. If it happens again, I will just opt for a warm 3.0

I have the polaris 2500# winch on my 07 800. I have been lucky as well and have had no trouble. Never pulled anything heavy just mainly use for lifting the plow. But 2 years of heavy use and no problem. Also have the 3500# on my xp. Only used it once though.

I too have had this same problem, I took the thing apart to find problem. I found a broken gear in it. Called the dealer to find parts , they just send them out for service, not supply parts. I even e-mailed warn this was their response " If it is an all black winch that say polaris, it was NOT made by Warn" dealer also told me they had alot of bad winches on the 07 500/800 2x deluxe that are Junk.
