Adjusting Belt deflection on a ATV is it hard?
#1
I just set up the Belt defection on my SKI-DOO for the first time and loved the results, takes off at 2000 rpm now not 4000 rpm like before.
The ski-doo had 3 adjuster nuts and Allen screws to set the two secondary sheaves up which made it quick and simple.
On a Polaris ATV SP500 is the secondary adjustable,or do I have to take the secondary off and shim it to change the sheave's gap?
I notice the top of my belt sits flush with the secondary and is supose to sit 1/16th" above the pully.

I will forget about it for now, it runs good from what I feel, but if it had quick adjusters like my sled I would give it a try.
My sleds belt was flush and I only raised the belt 1/16th of a inch, hard to believe that little bit changes the clutch engagement behavior so much.
They should have quick adjusters on all secondaries, not just on Ski-Doos.

a snowmobile is harder on belts, imo. so wheelers wear alot longer if you dont burn them. if its flush i wouldnt worry to much about replacing it right off and i would measure the width before you buy one. i checked my 06' 800 w/ about 500 miles on it compared to a new one a couple of years ago and was amazed there wasn't that much differnce in the sizes so i didnt buy a new one. imo.
