I know allot of us don't look around the whole forum, but you should go to the "Land, Trail and Environmental Issues" page and read the post by MrMarty. Or click on the link below that mtpockets put up, the WOW!
This is something we all need to stay aware of!
Thanks in advance for taking a little time away from the Polaris Page!

Yep, I've already gone there and signed in. Too bad more people don't sign in. It's a much more important topic that "my ATV is better than yours". People will spend hours arguing about that stuff, but many of them won't take a minute to help protect the sport.

It's a nice thought, but often times online petitions are nothing more than signing up for junk mail. Join the blue ribbon coalition and help them get some things done. I personally know some involved and it is well worth it.

I totally understand why folks would want to sign a petition for this, but please keep in mind that the folks that run that site and that organization are so biased that the ONLY thing that gives them credibility is the fact that anyone even notices them. If everyone ignores them, then they are just like people that think the world is flat or people that think ghosts are real or ufo's are real... it doesn't matter whether they are right or wrong... the point is that they don't get noticed until people that don't agree with them speak up.
Just food for thought.
Just food for thought.

Good point guys. Our local ATV club along with 2 others raised and spent $30K to fight some bill last year. It was defeated BUT the fight will continue because the opposition resubmitted the bill again.

So who's big pockets got the 30k? If Lawyers I would negotiate PRO BONO
for the next run since they lost their first one. Maybe neither is the case,
just pitching a thought, I will now go and crawl back under the rock from whence
I came from, LOL!

Yea, I understand your point jchunn, but it is a double edged sword, If you ignore them either they just fade out of the picture OR they manage to pass a bill or a law to prevent YOU from having acccess to OUR public lands!
I suppose the best way is to creat a positive image to the Non ORV users by joining clubs and participating in activities that benifit our local communities, countys and states.
Also it's important to discourage the misuse and abuse of public lands by the minority of riders that act like idiots and are NOT responsible riders!

Okay - I just spent an hour typing a response and clicked submit and lost it. Unfortunately I don't have another hour to retype - but in a nut shell -----
Many of these people are landowners that have been given legitate reason to bitch by the 5% among us that destroy the lands we ride on. We lose many of our trails to these landowners each year even after spending many hours expaining that 95% are responsible riders that appreciate the priviledge. Most all the landowners understand and agree but are tired of the 5% wrecking their land or buzzing their house, or disrupting their livestock, etc.
I believe those on this forum that are passionate about this sport understand how fragile this relationship is. But how do we educate the 5% that ruin it for the rest of us? Do we stop them when we witness them acting like idiots and expain that if they don't treat others land with respect we will all lose this previledge?
I am open to suggestions - but I can tell you in our area it's quite a battle keeping our trails open.
