850 Rev limiter for those interested...

Looks like it is set at 79xx...mine showed 7990 on the tach with the limiter engaged...
With the 27's the clutches keep the RPMs at about 7300 max..up to top speed as I've said before...that needs some work..the engine makes it's best power a little lower than that...

LOL..yeah..it does have some get up and go..
I've been messing with getting the fueling right with the exhaust and air side stuff I've done, that is why I was working her over so to speak..but I do ride hard anyway, lol. My dealer said to "ride the pi$$ out of it" and let the warranty worry about the rest,lol...(that is what I call a good dealer!) So that is what I do...
The HMF Optimizer is supposed to be set for the exhuast,so I just added a little fuel to the top end for the air filter and air box mod and it is still lean...I went back and added some to the lower 1/4 mid and WOT ranges...I'll try to test that tomorrow.

The so called rev limiter does not limit your top rpm it is a reverse limiter to make it where you dont back up too fast.
The top rpms are regulated by the clutching.

I take it your past the break in?Always remember to break in hard.Breaking it in soft is a CYA statement by the manufacturer.</end quote></div>
I normally break my machines in wiht "normal" riding..no hard core beatings and not babying either...
But yeah...it is more than broken in by Polaris" standards..

How are you changing the fuel map?
On our Kawi 636 engine we use to use Power Commanders which came with USB laptop connectors and a program but we now use a kawi race ecu which also allow us to adjust ignition advance but the special connector and program are very expensive.

Actually the EFI machines have a rev limiter, just like cars, trucks ect...some cut fuel, some ignition to alternating cylinders..just like the old "stutter" boxes...it is quite obvious when you hit it...yes it acts just like the reverse speed limiter..because it is the same...
You can hit it in neutral even..

Sounds too complicated to me.I will just stay with my old machines I know how to make them work.

HMF Optimizer..unfortunately only fueling is adjustable and that is very limited..I'm used to tuning late model For EFI with software that gives total control, more tech even than the Power Commander..hundreds of variables available to tweak..so this is VERY basic. Biggest SUCK is NO timing adjustment..which the 850 would love with some good gas!!!
I'm sure a offset timing key will come oujt for it,but I like electronic adjustability..
bump up the timing wiht good fuel...turn it back down run pump gas..
