Default oil change

Ive already changed the oil once in my machine(20hr) at the first service interval. Since i did not empty the sump on the engine, should i to be on the safe side before i go riding for the spring/summertime do it. I did everything else correctly as far as making sure there was vacuum in the oil lines when i was complete. I know that ive heard it is not necessary to dump the oil in the engine all the time, but should i do it every other oil change???? i want this machine to go a very long time and since i bought it new, it is in my hands to make sure i attain that goal.

You should drop the sump oil every time you do a oil change it only adds a few minutes if you don't your leaving dirty oil in you engine that will be mixing with the clean oil you put in . I would not worry about it this time but next time drop the sump oil too .

If you choose to use an aftermarket filter look at the wix 1358 or NAPA 51358 (wix makes the napa filter). Better filer and quite a bit cheaper. I use mobil 1 0w 40w instead of the polaris (overpriced) stuff.

You should empty the sump on your next oil change.

Polaris is NOT so overpriced as some may think! Just depends on your area, where you get it and such! Last time I checked Wallyword, Mobil 1 was higher than Polaris PS4 Plus! Again depends on where you can get it!

DavidXP,

Don't think your 850 has a sump to worry about. Dropping the drain plug and removing the oil filter should get all the old oil out. That's another feature about the XP over the older models, as that sump draining is a bit of a pain. My dealer recommends not even doing it.

Anyhow, check with one of the other XP owners to be sure.
