1998 Polaris scrambler 400 4x4 water pump? Help
#1
Hi I just bought a 1998 Polaris scrambler 400 4x4. I thought I was getting a good deal on it but I checked the oil in the counter balancer and when I pulled the dipstick out I got white/read foam poring out of it which was coolant. I took the engine apart and replaced the water pump gasket. This did not fix the problem so I ordered the water pump bearings, seals, and gasket. I am not able to get the water pump housing off of the counter balancer shaft. I got the impeller off but the housing won't come off. How do I get this off? Any help would much appreciate.
Thanks mike

Possibly corroded on c/balancer shaft and w/p bearing. Can try a little wd-40 plus a little heat(best to use heat gun since close to carb and tank. Should come off. If c/balancer is grooved and rusty around bearing/seal area can try some emory cloth to clean up,but if still in bad shape may not seal properly. One of the problem areas on the 350 and 400. Hope this is not your problem.
