Default Xpedition overheat lamp

My 2002 Xpedition 325 4x4 which I just bought has an issue. I see that they bypassed the thermister to make the fan constantly run... but it also constantly shows the red temp light on. is this because of the bypass? even when engine cold, and key on the red light is on. Any ideas?

my guess would be yes. since the machine cant tell what the temp is at. my quess would be it senses the temp it high. just becuse it has no way to tell what the temp really is since the bypass is always telling that the atv is hot.
