I PUT THE GREEN SPRING IN TODAY AND IT SEEMS TO BE FINE (THIS IS ON A ICE AND SNOW COVERED DRIVEWAY) TILL ABOUT 15MPH. ONCE YOU HIT ABOUT THAT SPEED IT SEEMS LIKE THE BELT SLIPS AND IT JUST REVS OUT AND RUNS OUT OF SPEED AT ABOUT 20MPH. NOW UNDER LOAD IN ABOUT 20 TO 30 INCHES OF SNOW IT SEEMS FINE, NO OVERREV(AT FULL THROTTLE)AND THE SPEEDO READS ABOUT 20MPH WORKING HARD IN THE DEEP SNOW. IT SEEMS TO BE OK IN HIGH BUT THE DRIVEWAY IS TO SHORT AND THE ROAD IS MOSTLY GLARE ICE SO I DON'T KNOW IF I LOST ANY ON THE TOP SPEED OR NOT (GETS TO ABOUT 40MPH BEFORE HITTING THE BRAKES IN THE DRIVEWAY).
NOW SHOULD I LOOK FOR THE PROBLEM IN THE PRIMARY(NEW WEIGHTS) OR THE SECONDARY CLUTCH (CHANGE SPRING OR CHANGE ITS PRELOAD)? I WILL MOST LIKELY PUT THE BLUE SPRING BACK IN SUNDAY AND SEE HOW IT WORKS STOCK.

I can't say what the problem is, but I have a green spring also. On a hard packed snow road w/ice, I get full traction and run right up to 30 in low..same is true in deep snow. Did you torgue the bolts properly? In high, immediate -no lag- speed all the way up.

OK I PULLED THE SPRING OUT, BUT BEFORE I PUT IT BACK TOGETHER DOES ANY BODY KNOW THE EXACT TORQUE SPECS FOR THE COVER BOLT, I USED 45 INCH LBS. BUT THAT WAS FROM A POLARIS SEVICE MANUAL FOR SNOWMOBILES AND IT DON'T LIST A PATTERN TO TORQUE THE BOLTS DOWN IN. AND I CAN'T FIND A SPEC FOR THE CENTER BOLT IN THIS MANUAL. I WILL TRY AND CALL THE DEALER FOR THE CORRECT SPECS MONDAY, OR JUST GO THERE I WORK JUST A MILE AWAY.

ANYBODY KNOW THE CORRECT SPECS?

I THINK center bolt is 45 foot pounds, outside bolts are 12 or 14.

THANKS FARMR123

CALLED THE DEALER AND THE SERVICE GUY TOLD THE PARTS GUY WE HIT THE CENTER BOLT WITH THE IMPACT AND SNUG UP THE COVER BOLTS. MY IMPACT GOES AT LEAST 450 FOOT LBS AND JUST WHAT SPEC IS SNUG!!! WON'T BE GOING TO THE DEALER FOR CLUTCH WORK!!!
AT LEAST THE PARTS GUY LOOKED AND FOUND THE SPEC FOR THE CENTER BOLT 40 FOOT LBS. BUT HE FOUND NOTHING FOR THE COVER BOLTS.

I'LL GO WITH WHAT FARMR123 SAYS IF NOBODY HAS ANYTHING TO ADD.

It almost sounds to me like you had a bind in it. I would leave the belt off and run it up the R's once to check for full engagement. If OK, then put the belt on and jack up the back of the machine somehow (and point outside just for grins) and run it up the R's again to check for full shift.
If you had full engagement on the primary without the belt, but NOT with the belt, then you isolated your trouble to the secondary ( probably stuck ). I had my secondary do that this year on my sled. Would shift out to 50mph and stop. Overev after that. Just corosion from salty roads. Not an issue on the 4wheeler as it is sealed. But something else could bind it as in bent spring, burr, etc.
However) with the machine in low range - you certainly have the possability/probability of overeving, as there is not enough resistance to hold back the motor.

SILVERADO ITS STILL APART, NEVER PUT IT BACK TOGETHER, PROBABLY DO IT THIS WEEKEND. AND I RAN OUT OF PROPANE FOR THE HEATER AND ITS TO COLD TO BE MESSING AROUND IN THE GARAGE WITHOUT HEAT.

OX
WHEN I FIRST DID THE MOD I TRIED MOST OF THAT. AFTER I TOOK THE GREEN SPRING OUT I PULLED THE BELT AND CHECKED FOR BIND IN THE CLUTCH. EVERYTHING LOOKS FINE AND DON'T SEE ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT SO I'LL TRY AGAIN THIS WEEKEND WITH LIGHTER TORQUE SPECS AND GO FROM THERE.
