Need some help ASAP

Im having some issues with my trailblazer...
Im in the process of doing a top end rebuild and ive got everything ready to be put back together. While cleaning where the base gasket goes on the bottom end of the motor i noticed some dirt/dust/grit on the lobe of the crank shaft and on the connecting rod. So i started thinking that if there is dirt there then theres gotta be dirt inside it as well. So I took of the flywheel cover where the fill and the drain plug on the side of the motor are and theres NO oil in it. Isnt there suppost to be oil??? all that was in it was some dirty muddy like small amount of oil in the bottom..
so my question is... is there suppost to be oil there and if yes, what kind and how much. Also what would be a good way to flush the dirt out of the bottom end??Any other advice you can give me id appreciate.. im pretty new to this stuff.

Unless you have an aircleaner/airbox problem then the dirt in the crankcase could've got in there from dissassembly of the engine. You're engine is a 2-cycle that does not require an oil filled crankcase. It gets oil for lube from the oil pump which is fed from the oil bottle.

Also if you wanted to spray some carb spray or some type of cleaner on the crank there is a 10mm bolt on the bottom of the engine to drain crankcase.Should be a hole through the frame to access the bolt.

if your talking about the bolt on the top of the flywheel housing that is a timing sight. the drain plugs on the bottom are incase you sink the machine it gives you a place to drain any water that may have gotten in there. so no oil in a 250 motor. the 400 motor does for the counter balance.
